The leading directory of professionally qualified Drone Pilots in the UK
The Civil Aviation Authority is the governing body for all airborne permissions. To obtain permission for commercial drone flights, they issue a special permission called a Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO). This is only granted after all the specific criteria is met and an Operations Manual is submitted and approved each year. Desire RC Ltd hold a current PfCO (our first one was issued in 2013)
We are insured for up to £5 million through this leading UK Drone Insurer.
The Hangar/Autopilot application allows us to capture smooth, perfectly framed, and visually stunning imagery. With autonomous and semi-autonomous flight modes, Autopilot enables us to execute flight and camera control sequences that were previously too difficult or impossible to perform manually.
Airdata is the worlds most trusted flight data platform. We use this to provide us with up to the minute flight information on our drones allowing us to monitor the health of the aircraft with a host of technical support information.
DronePan is a mobile-based autopilot app for DJI drones that automates the process of shooting aerial imagery for spherical panoramas. Users fly their aircraft to the desired panorama location and then launch DronePan, which temporarily takes control of the aircraft heading and camera angle. After a simple tap or two, DronePan begins shooting 15 to 25 photos automatically with the proper overlap required for an aerial spherical panorama. When the panorama is complete, users resume manual control and can fly to other locations to shoot more panoramas.
We use this app to ensure we're flying our drone safely in the UK using Drone Assist, the drone safety app from NATS, the UK’s main Air Traffic Control provider, in partnership with Altitude Angel.
Another app that we use - specifically to check the Kp-index (solar flare activity) which can cause interference with the flight control systems.
